Laying the Groundwork for Growth:

Technology Roadmap and Enterprise Readiness

Background

By 2023, MBP (myBasePay) was rapidly expanding its market presence and preparing to serve enterprise-level clients. To meet the demands of growth, the company needed its technology infrastructure to be as sophisticated and scalable as its vision.

The Challenge

Like many fast-growing companies, MBP’s technology environment was evolving quickly. The pace of expansion meant systems were being stretched, new requirements were emerging, and priorities competed for attention. Some of the natural challenges included:

  • Systems that had grown fragmented over time and needed better integration.

  • Development requests coming in faster than they could be organized, creating a backlog.

  • Security protocols that needed to match enterprise-grade client expectations.

  • No formal roadmap in place to guide which projects to prioritize first.

  • Additional technology leadership capacity was needed to both advise strategically and manage tactical execution.

These weren’t signs of failure — they were the natural evolution of a scaling business. But without focus, MBP risked building on uneven ground at the very moment enterprise demand was accelerating.

How Day1 Showed Up

Day1 partnered with MBP to act as a trusted technology advisor and execution partner. Together, we built a two-year technology roadmap to clarify priorities, dependencies, and sequencing. From there, Day1's Execution Taskforce supported delivery on key initiatives:

  • Arctic Wolf Deployment

Strengthened the company’s security posture by implementing an enterprise-grade SOC solution, aligning with client expectations for data protection.

  • Integration Readiness  – Process Mapping & iPaaS Selection

Mapped MBP’s full business lifecycle across people, processes, and systems to identify gaps and workarounds. Defined requirements for an integration platform as a service (iPaaS), then led a vendor assessment to select the right partner for future integration needs.

  • Development Queue & Prioritization

Established a centralized dev queue with governance to ensure work is prioritized by business impact rather than urgency alone, bringing discipline and visibility to technology delivery.

  • Ticketing – Vendor Selection & Implementation

Identified and implemented a ticketing system to manage not just development requests, but broader service tickets across teams. The system created cross-functional visibility and will directly improve customer experience by giving the service delivery team better tools to track, collaborate, and respond to client requests.

The Impact

Collectively, these initiatives established the foundation required to serve enterprise clients with confidence. MBP gained:

Security

A stronger security posture, aligned with enterprise client requirements.

Visibility

Clear process visibility through Integration Readiness work, eliminating workarounds and setting the stage for system integrations.

Discipline

A disciplined approach to development work, with a centralized queue and governance to prioritize the most impactful initiatives.

Efficiency

A modern ticketing system that not only improved internal efficiency but also elevated customer experience by enhancing responsiveness and collaboration.
